Every day more and more CBD products come on the market. However, most people do not know what product is right for them. Additionally, many patients and health care providers do not realize CBD can interact with many popular medications. Therefore, all consumers should confer with their doctor before using any CBD product.

With that said, here is a guide to the 7 most common CBD products to help you choose the right one for you.

Topicals

A topical, by definition, is applied to the skin and not ingested. Topical CBD products do not enter the bloodstream. For this reason, topicals are an excellent option for consumers taking multiple medications. Our skin has specialized receptors that interact with CBD. As a result, these receptors help control inflammation and can reduce joint and muscle pain. Pairing topical products with other CBD products does not create adverse effects. Moreover, topicals are fast-acting and last between 2 to 4 hours. Topicals come in many varieties, such as creams, lotions, cosmetics, salves, bath bombs, and roll-ons.

Oils/Tinctures

CBD oils, also called CBD tinctures or a sublingual, are one of the most popular CBD products on the market. These products are placed and held under the tongue for approximately 1 to 2 minutes, then swallowed. As a result, CBD enters directly into the bloodstream. A tincture allows the consumer optimal control over their dose. In light of this, CBD oils are a good option for consumers who are new to using CBD. Ultimately, these products begin to work within 30 minutes and usually last up to 6 hours.

Supplements

Supplement CBD products have two common forms, tablets or capsules. Many consumers choose this form because they incorporate it into their morning routine easily. Additionally, this product offers a no-mess or fuss way to ingest their daily dose of CBD. If you chose this product, make sure the tablet or capsule has a special coating. This coating will prevent the CBD from being destroyed by the gut. Finally, CBD supplements start working within 2 hours and last up to 6 hours, depending on your gut health.

Edibles

Edibles are probably the most popular CBD products on the market. Gummies, lollipops, candies, cookies, or any other food item infused with cannabis is an edible. Currently, the edible market is unregulated, so review this post to ensure you buy a product from a reputable company. Additionally, proper edible packaging contains a list of ingredients and the amount of cannabis contained in each serving. However, because edibles go directly into the stomach, approximately thirty percent of the dose is destroyed in the digestion process. Edibles take effect within two hours of ingestion and last up to 4 hours.

IMPORTANT INFO HERE: If you choose to try an edible, please allow 2 hours to pass before taking an additional dose. Many people who have reported adverse effects suffer these effects because they lack patience.

Patches

Transdermal patches are convenient, simple to use CBD products. Additionally, some retailers’ have designed patches that allow the consumer to cut them into smaller doses. Hence, giving the consumer the ability to determine dosing. Furthermore, research has shown, patches deliver a consistent dose over a set number of hours. Patches take effect in about 2 hours.

IMPORTANT INFO HERE: If you choose to try transdermal patches, ask the retailer if the design of the patch allows for cutting. Also, inquire about the length of time the patch should remain on the skin. Finally, it is worth noting transdermal patches do not belong near your heart, breasts, or genitals.

Suppositories

Suppositories are my favorite product to discuss, mostly because everyone is extremely uncomfortable! These CBD products belong in your nether regions. If you choose this application, please protect your clothing for any discharge. However, consumers who suffer from irritable bowel or menstrual cramps find this form of use provides effective relief. Additionally, this application is useful for individuals who are unable to swallow. Lastly, suppositories begin to work in 1 hour and last up to 6 hours.

Inhaled

In light of the recent issues with vape products, Tedder Wellness does not recommend vaping products at this time. Many people may argue this point, but it’s my party, and we are not vaping at it. However, there is an application for inhalation. Smoking cannabis provides the fastest relief with the shortest effects. This application is helpful for breakthrough anxiety or pain. Equally important is inhalation allows the consumer control of the dose of cannabis used.

Just as a reminder, GOOD CBD is NEVER at the GAS STATION.

Now, go forth and be awesome!
